The duty of the Dean of Students’ Welfare and the Assistant Deans of Students’ Welfare is to generally assist the students in matters requiring help and guidance and, in particular, to help and advice students and prospective students in 

• Obtaining admission to the University and its courses.
• The choice of suitable courses and hobbies.
• Finding living accommodation.
• Making mess arrangements.
• Obtaining medical advice and assistance.
• Securing scholarships, stipends, part-time employment and other pecuniary assistance.
• Obtaining travel facilities for holidays and educational excursions.
• Securing facilities for further studies abroad and;
• So conducting themselves in proper pursuit of academic studies so as to maintain the traditions of the University.

The Dean of Students’ Welfare may communicate with the guardian of a student in respect of any matter requiring his assistance when necessary.

The Dean of Students’ Welfare shall exercise general control over the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Physical Education, if any, and the University Medical Officer. He/she shall perform such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Executive Council or the Vice-Chancellor.
