Major Research Areas in Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law recognizes the importance of research in legal issues to solve various problems that are continuously emerging in the face of changing society. The coverage of research area is very broad ranging from the smallest unit of society, that is, family to encompass several other issues such as business, economy, crime, human rights, cybercrime, intellectual property rights, environment, and so on. The current focus of research by our faculty members is on the following topics:

• Family related issues such as marriage, divorce, adoption, succession etc., property related matters, laws pertaining to women, children, social mind-set, language related issues, private international law.
• Constitutionalism, criminal jurisprudence including violation of human rights, Intellectual Property Rights, comparative constitutional law, Right to Information Act.
• Environmental Jurisprudence with special reference to threat to biological diversity, ecological imbalance, development vis-a-vis sustainable development and protection of environment.
•  Loopholes and deficiencies in cyber laws, responsible weak laws and its enforcement.
• Additionally, the Faculty provides consultancy in following areas:
  • Property related issues such as succession, joint family or ancestral property, etc.
  • Preparation of Legal Literacy Training Directory for the trainers on legal literacy and legal awareness to create mass awareness among rural community.
  • Preparation of training modules/booklets in very easy language on fundamental rights, duties, F.I.R., legal aid to poor, domestic violence issues, dowry prohibition, child marriage, RTE, child labour, equal pay for equal work.
  • Preparation of training modules on social security, maternity benefits to rural female workers, RTI, Janhit guarantee, primary education and health, MDM, old age pension, remedy through Lok Adalats’ Legal Services Authority for legal aid to poor.
